So here you are, wondering what all the fuss is about, asking what is with ALL THIS HYPE around Essential Oils recently??

Well, first up…let me just start by saying that essential oils are possibly the furthest thing from new in the world of natural health.

Essential oils have been used for centuries for rituals and healing ceremonies. Some oils were believed to hold so much value they were found along with gold in the tomb of Tutankhamen (Frankincense- also which was given to Mary when baby Jesus was born) and they were also most likely found in your great grandmothers medicine cabinet as her first port of call for common ailments such as toothache (clove), cuts (tea tree/lavender), nightmares (juniper berry) or UTI’s (Arborvitae/Thuja).

The good news is the paradigm has shifted back to a place of seek first to understand, and natural health (along with Kale smoothies and acai bowls) has become COOL- yay!

Some might think this is just a trendy thing, a craze, a fad.

But to be honest, I really I don’t care if people are “doing” NATURAL HEALTH and TAKING BETTER CARE OF THEMSELVES to look cool and be on trend because the point is, more and more people are opening themselves up to better understand the things they are putting in and on their bodies- and this can only be a positive thing.

Essential oils are volatile compounds produced by plants (the leaves, bark, roots, sap, flower or peel) to fight against threats such as mold, fungus, bacteria, and viruses. They are the defense mechanisms of plants, and help to ward off and protect themselves from pests and animals.

They are a safe, affordable, and an effective alternative to synthetic remedies. While they are not intended to replace modern medicine, they are a wonderful addition to your families health care routines and preventative measures.

Essential oils have been used throughout history in many cultures for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits.

I could bang on all day about the incredible smell of these oils- and the purity and quality is evident the second you crack the lid off one of these beautiful bottles.

However, I want you to know there is a whole list of reasons I choose to partner with this particular company which you can read about here.

And then of course, there is co-impact sourcing…

Co-Impact Sourcing

With over 100 essential oils in its product line, dōTERRA source its oils from over 40 countries- more than half of which could be considered developing countries. Sourcing the oils from where the plant that produces the oils grows best indigenously ensures the highest therapeutic value possible. To ensure that small scale farmers and harvesters in disadvantaged areas are treated ethically, dōTERRA has introduced an initiative called Cō-Impact Sourcing.

Cō-Impact Sourcing is an initiative that seeks to develop long-term, mutually beneficial supplier partnerships while creating sustainable jobs and providing reliable income in underdeveloped areas. dōTERRA is committed to the ethical treatment of its suppliers by providing on-time payments at fair prices. Growers and harvesters are encouraged to form cooperative groups to share collective benefits and bargaining power while improving skills and capacity.

And then there’s doTERRA’s incredibly philanthropic heart…

The Healing Hands Foundation

Having experienced the life-enriching power of essential oils, a group of health-care and business professionals collaborated with a common goal of creating a new standard of essential oils that would influence individuals and communities around the world. In the spring of 2008, their vision became a reality and doTERRA, meaning “gift of the Earth,” was founded. Since the company’s beginning, high-quality essential oils sourced and distributed by doTERRA have spread throughout the globe, enhancing many lives.

In addition to sharing essential oils with the world, doTERRA aspired to serve people and communities with the resources they had. Initially, this meant donating to charities, fundraisers, and community projects, but it eventually grew to be much more. The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation was created in June 2012 as an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The foundation is one of the ways doTERRA reaches out and serves communities in need. They do this by partnering with organizations and doTERRA Wellness Advocates to offer hope to millions around the world. Through the foundation’s efforts, lives are freed of disease and poverty, and communities are empowered with the tools needed to become self-reliant.
